We get this question a lot—and for good reason:
"What are your baby wrap carriers made from?”
That’s exactly why we chose a blend of 94% modal and 6% spandex for our Joey Mama baby wrap carriers.
Why Modal?
Modal is a beautiful, sustainable fabric made from beech tree fibres. It’s known for its buttery-soft feel, breathability, and moisture-wicking properties. Unlike heavier cottons or synthetic blends, modal doesn’t trap heat or cling to the body in a sticky way.
Instead, it keeps you and your baby cool and comfortable—especially during long naps, skin-to-skin moments, or warm weather walks. It’s also naturally smooth and gentle, making it ideal for sensitive newborn skin.
Why Spandex?
We include 6% spandex to add just the right amount of stretch and recovery. That means the wrap gently molds to your body and baby’s shape without sagging or losing support over time.
It also makes it easier to get a snug, secure fit—especially for new parents still learning the art of babywearing. The stretch helps the fabric move with you, not against you, making everyday movement smoother and more comfortable.
The Result?
A baby wrap that’s:
* Ultra-soft and gentle on skin
* Breathable and lightweight
* Secure and stretchy without slipping
* Durable enough to withstand daily wear and washes
When we designed our wraps, we wanted you to feel as confident and supported as your baby feels calm and close This fabric blend helps us do exactly that.
So the next time you ask, What is this wrap actually made from? — now you know.
Comfort, closeness, and thoughtfulness in every fibre.
